Healthy Lakes Grant Process

The DNR provides grants of up to one thousand dollars for managing erosion and run off.  The process for obtaining one of these grants  is as follows:

  • Write a letter of intent describing your project and send it to the LRPD (lrpd.board@gmail.com) by September 1.  The letter needs to include:

    • Description of your project with how it will benefit the lake.  Be sure to include technical information from the Healthy Lakes sheets to show that you have read and understand how your project will both benefit the lake and meet the program requirements.

    • Cost estimates

    • Before pictures

    • Site plan

  • LRPD will review the submitted projects for completeness and combine the projects into a grant application to the DNR on behalf of the LRPD residents. This grant is due by November 1.

  • The DNR will review the grant requests, prioritize them, and fund those projects as the supply of grant money allows by March of the next year.

  • If your project is approved, you must complete the work by December 31 of the next year.  Once you have completed your project, you must submit a report to the LRPD, including before and after photos, along with your receipts.

  • LRPD will gather the reports for the completed projects and submit a reimbursement request to the DNR.

  • The DNR will review the reports and provide the LRPD with the reimbursement funds, if the projects meet their requirements.

  • The LRPD will reimburse you with the funds that the DNR provides.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact LRPD (lrpd.board@gmail.com)
